We are qualified for the application of Chartek® intumescent systems

Recently in Sweden we applied the AzkoNobel Chartek 1709 fireproof coating on metal structures of an important refinery.

Chartek 1709 is a boron-free epoxy intumescent paint, perfect for fire protection, as it insulates and protects steel structures from exposure to high temperatures and flames.
In detail, it is a high quality AzkoNobel certified product, formulated to offer protection not only in the event of fire, but also in the presence of corrosive agents and cryogenic liquids.
It is used to guarantee the functional integrity of metal structures for a certain time when exposed to hydrocarbons and Jet Fire, i.e. fires from a flammable jet escaping from a pressurized system. For this reason it finds application especially in environments with a high fire risk, such as oil and gas industries.
Depending on the context, the most suitable application cycle of Chartek 1709 and the thicknesses are evaluated based on the expected standards. The treatment involves the preparation of the metal surface, which is cleaned with abrasive sandblasting and treated with specific primers.
When the surface is clean and dry, a first layer of intumescent paint is applied by airless spray, so as to obtain total wetting of the substrate. Alternatively, the paint is applied with a spatula and rolled. Only the materials and equipment indicated in the AzkoNobel operating manuals are used. The application times of the Chartek 1709 coatings and at the appropriate temperatures are carefully followed.
The application of Chartek intumescent systems can only be carried out by companies that have received the AkzoNobel Qualified Applicator certification.
